bio:
I’m a commercial retoucher and photographer based in Chicago, IL.
I earned a BA in Commercial Photography from Columbia College Chicago in 2016. Since graduating, I have worked as a full-time product photographer and retoucher at POW Photography in Chicago. I began as an associate photographer, and spent my first few years developing my lighting skills while working with hundreds of clients and their products. After a few years working as a photographer, I moved into a lead retouching position as the studio developed an internal digital department. My responsibilities shifted focus towards retouching, quality control, file management, workflow optimization, and development of a number of the digital services behind commercial product photography. I’ve assisted in expanding a number of additional services, including lifestyle composites, hand model retouching, jewelry photography, creative services, and graphic design. The wide range of projects at POW has allowed me to continually develop as a retoucher, as I’m always faced with a new product or a new problem to troubleshoot on set and in post production in order to meet client needs.
After photographing and retouching thousands of product images over the years, I’ve found that I enjoy cosmetic, beauty, jewelry, food and beverage photography the most. Those subjects also lend well to hard light, which is my lighting of choice. I typically use some level of direct, non-diffused lighting in all of my photography to get a finishing touch of sparkle.
Outside of product photography, I have a passion for food and travel, which is reflected in my personal work. I’ve had the privilege of seeing the natural wonders in India, Colorado, Ireland, and Hawaii. I’m looking forward to shooting memories of wherever I go next.
I’m currently interested in all retouching projects ranging from basic adjustments to high-end retouching and compositing. If you’d like to discuss your next retouching project, I’d love to chat more and possibly set up a retouching test!
